The following example shows how to extend the 'gerber.cam' job for a multilayer board with four signal layers.
Let's assume we want to generate Gerber files for a 4-layer board with smd components on top and bottom sides, one supply layer ($GND on Layer15), one inner layer containing various signals (Layer2), and the silk screen for component and solder sides. Furthermore we need a solder cream frame for top and bottom sides.

The following section shows which layers belong together and should be written into a common file. The suffixes proposed should be used for the output files. 

Component side: TOP PADS VIAS .cmp

Solder side: BOTTOM PADS VIAS .sol

Inner layer: ROUTE2 PADS VIAS .ly2

supply layer $GND: $GND (this layer only!) .l15

silk screen component side: TPLACE, TNAMES, (TVALUES) .plc

silk screen solder side: BPLACE, BNAMES, (BVALUES) .pls

Solder stop mask cmp: TSTOP .stc

Solder stop mask sol: BSTOP .sts

Cream frame cmp: TCREAM .cfc

Cream frame sol: BCREAM .cfs

The suffixes may be chosen freely. Please inform your board house what the individual file names mean.
